IEP Writing Strategies and Upcoming IEP Format Changes

Wednesday, February 8, 2023

6:00-8:00 PM

Mr. Blume will discuss upcoming changes that parents and guardians will soon notice in their child’s Individualized Education Programs (IEP), such as changes in layout, in the listing and identification of accommodations and modifications, and in the format of goals and objectives sections. This is because Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Special Education (DESE) is developing a new IEP format. Mr. Blume will provide information regarding the new format and what to expect regarding the new document.

Mr. Blume has spent 45 years in special education. He is a special educator, associate professor of practice, and educational consultant known for his work with IEP development and writing strategies. Mr. Blume has consulted with over 100 school districts across Massachusetts. Most recently, Mr. Blume provided professional development to Medford special educators regarding the impact of the new IEP format changes.
