Community Update Regarding Search for Two Administrative Positions

Dear MPS Community,

Thank you for your feedback, perspectives, and insights provided as we begin the search processes for our new Assistant Superintendent for Academics & Instruction and our new Director for English Learners. The response to both surveys sent across our school community reflects a strong commitment to our students and their education. 

The final selections for each search committee will ensure that the process is inclusive of wide-ranging and diverse perspectives of the Medford Public Schools. Therefore, we are pleased to announce the members for each search committee in the table below:

Assistant Superintendent For Academics and Instruction

We had a total of 38 applicants. Fifteen were parents/caregivers, ten were staff, four were both staff and caregivers, and nine were administrators. The committee will include one Medford School Committee member who is also a caregiver. 

The committee will be co-facilitated by Suzanne B. Galusi and Joan Bowen.

Director of English Learners

We had a total of 15 applicants. Eleven teachers, three administrators, and one Medford School Committee member. Caregivers provided feedback, but were unable to commit to the meeting schedule. 

The committee will be co-facilitated by Nancy Sherman-Hudson and Paul Teixeira.

As a reminder, the role of each search committee is to interview a qualified pool of candidates to provide the Interim Superintendent with a subset of candidates who the committee feels would be the best fit for the position. As each search process proceeds, we will continue to inform the community with appropriate updates.
